To celebrate NAIDOC Week, the Murrumburrah-Harden Community Garden will host a free event on July 21.

Mitch Summerfield and some of his family will build a gunyah in the community garden.

Community members are welcome to help with the building.

Mr Summerfield’s uncle from West Wyalong will perform a smoking ceremony afterwards.

Students from the local schools will listen to stories and share the morning.

This year’s theme - For Our Elders - aims to remind people of the importance of the role elders have played and continue to play in our communities.

To finish the event off there will be a delicious sausage sizzle.

Call Rita O’Connor on 0407 117 140 to RSVP by July 20 to ensure that there is enough food for everyone.
