Australia Day Bowls

Boorowa Ex Services bowls club held their annual Australia Day bowls in perfect weather conditions.
As is traditional, the Australia Day Ambassador rolls the first bowl to start hostilities. There were 30 players eagerly waiting for Geoff Coombes to perform.
Bowls Club President Gerard Dunn welcomed him to the bowls club and invited him to have a roll. Geoff in reply said what an honour it was to be in Boorowa and he thanked the community for their hospitality.
After his first roll, which showed some form there were cries from the members to ‘sign him up.’
The competition consisted of two 12 end matches.
The winning team on the day was skipped by Des Grimson with Maureen Westbury and Evonne Murphy.
The runners up were Charlie and Leo Sorgsepp with Bill Luxford as skip.
The Bowls Club congratulate regular bowler Nev Thurtell on his 90th birthday. Nev and son Greg whose birthday is the same day were also playing on Australia Day.
