Boorowa Gun Club hosted 38 shooters at their monthly competition on Saturday 28 July. Excellent conditions were on hand with the breeze looking worse than it was.
Event 1. The Barry Cooper Memorial Handicap event was won by Blake Gruber with a perfect 25/25 edging out the nearest competitors John Wason and Des Cooper both shooting a 24 and having to shoot off for 2nd and 3rd with John getting the 2nd place honours.
Event 2. The Dennis Smith Memorial Shoot was a mixed target event consisting of 15 targets double barrel, 15 targets single barrel, 15 targets point score and 15 pairs of double rise (two targets at once). Clive Foster won overall with a score of 103/105, Nathan Burt came 1st in AA grade with Tracey Barton and Giulio Serafin having to shoot off for 2nd place with Tracey just edging out Giulio for the place. The A Grade honours also had to be decided by a shoot off with Blake Gruber, Edward Cummings and Adam Boswell all tied on 99/105. Blake continued his fine form and took the win, Edward narrowly edged out Adam by 1 point to take 2nd. The B Grade Results were David Constable 1st and Kruno Luketic 2nd. William Shaw won C Grade with Club President Geoffrey Mason coming 2nd after a shoot off with the club’s newest member Michelle Lees who put in an inspiring effort in her first competition.
If you are interested in having a try at clay target shooting, the Boorowa Gun Club is open for practice for members and beginners every Tuesday evening from 5.00 till 7.00pm. All ages and abilities 12 years and up, photo ID is required.
