Boorowa Irish Woolfest Celebrates 22 years

The 22nd Boorowa Irish Woolfest was held last weekend, featuring the famous ‘Running of the Sheep’.

Huge crowds lined the street at noon to see Boorowa’s fine Merino sheep guided down the street by kelpies, followed by the street parade, featuring Pirate Pete, Pipe Bands and decorated floats.

There was plenty to see and do all afternoon, with performances from Celtic band Sugatree and children’s entertainer Pirate Pete.

The Hawkesbury Working Dogs demonstration was popular, drawing a large crowd.

Old Kentucky’s Animal Farm was popular with the kids, Rose the alpaca a favourite patting choice.

Face painting was very popular, with large crowds of faces donning painted looks.

The Grower’s Market showcased the best the region has to offer of food and boutique products. There was a long line of people picking up buckets of farm fresh strawberries.

Joining in the celebrations was the Hilltops Phoenix own Ethan, who celebrated his very first Boorowa Irish Woolfest with Mum Glenice and Dad Phil.
