Hilltops organisation Dance4wellbeing has won the ‘Promoting Healthy Living’ award at the prestigious Murrumbidgee Primary Health Awards.
Dance4wellbeing is based in Young and delivers specialised Dance4Health programs designed for people aged 55 and over, with weekly sessions in Young, Yass, Cootamundra, and Harden, as well as online options that extend accessibility to remote and rural areas across the region.
Founder of Dance4wellbeing Director Jess Conneely said, “Dance4wellbeing programs target key health priorities identified by the region’s Primary Health Network, enhancing mobility, strength, balance, and social connection—critical factors in supporting healthy ageing and reducing isolation in regional communities.”
Jess also serves as Co-Director of Dance for Parkinson’s Australia—a not-for-profit charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of people living with Parkinson’s Disease through evidence-based creative dance classes.
Jess’s work is connected to the needs of regional and rural communities. She actively collaborates with universities and aged care providers on research projects to explore how dance, music, and movement can enhance the lives of older adults, particularly in regional settings where access to health services can be limited.
Since 2015, Jess has developed innovative training modules that integrate movement into care and health settings for older adults throughout NSW.
These modules support professionals working across the Murrumbidgee region, including those in aged care facilities, community health services, and allied health practices. Dance4wellbeing is now taking new participant registrations for 2026.
