Poole Blitzes the Field
Another glorious early winters day embraced the greens at Harden Country Club last Saturday and a solid field made the most of it, along with a visitor or 2 in the day’s combatants. Again the course bit back with conditions tough for scoring in the Club Mixed Medley Stableford.

All except for 1 man. Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man. Tom Poole is just having none of this fuss about winter, no run, fast greens blah blah. Tom Poole shot his handicap in a canter and blitzed the field by 4 whole shots to his nearest competitor. A great day out and Tom earned himself some Club spend vouchers for his troubles.

Runner up was daylight and then came Club House leader for most of the afternoon in Ev Shea on 32 points. With every passing minute Ev was getting her victory speech ready, but alas she missed her chance to corner the microphone for a fireside chat with the masses. Evelyn led off the ball comp with balls going back as far as 29 points. Ball claimers were Ev, Tam Kennedy (31), Craig Filmer (30), Michael Baldry, Graham Martin-Dye & .Bernard Parker all with 29 points.

We still have a couple of late games that were being completed on Sunday before we can announce the next round. If you are alive then watch the tournament sheet on the noticeboard and make sure you arrange a mutually convenient time and day with your next opposition in this knockout draw.

Pepe’s Duck Run – Week 1
Welcome on board to Pepe’s Ducks who have quite a presence out at Cunningar in the Harden community. Pepe is sponsoring our casual 9 hole weekend comp running over the next 12 weeks.

Each week we will be awarding a Pepe’s Duck to best Man, best Lady, best Junior and the Bradmans out of the 9 hole scores entered. Play as often as you want for $8 and each time you enter a same day drink voucher accompanies you before or after your round. Great value for some great fun.

This week our best Male score was Tom Poole who put his money up before his exemplary 18 hole round to cover his front 9. Tom wins a plucked duck for his 20 points.

Our champion Lady and winner of an unplucked duck was Ev Shea for her 16 points. No Juniors played but our Live & Unplucked duck this week went to Louise Hufton.

This event had a great attendance this weekend and can only grow. Feel like 9 holes, members or social members? Come and have a dig and away you could walk with a duck !

Harden Tournament Weekend – This Weekend
Saturday sees a Medley, Mens and Scratch 4BBB event to kick off our Tournament Weekend proudly brought to us by the GO Kruger Trust. Time are available between 10.30 and 12.30am and bookings can be made under Saturday Events on Golf Genius or via the helpful staff at the Club.

Sunday is Men’s Open Tournament Day in Scratch, Nett and Stableford categories. Enter via Special Events on Golf Genius or contact the Club on 6386 2483 to make sure you are in the field.
