The Hilltops Regional Council will receive an additional $1,672,314 in local infrastructure funding as part of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.

The funding is in addition to the $1,770,968 already allocated under the program, making the total funding received $3,443,282.

Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the nation’s economic recovery would be led on a local level through procurement, jobs and supporting small businesses.

“The further investment into the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, to the tune of an additional $1 billion nationwide, will stimulate local economies and create more local jobs,” Mr McCormack said.

“Local councils understand the immediate needs in their communities which is why this money is so important to support local jobs and local businesses in Harden, Young and the wider Hilltops region.”

“This is part of a $110 billion 10-year infrastructure investment which will drive our economic recovery for years to come,” said Mr McCormack.

The program enables councils to deliver priority projects with a focus on local road and community infrastructure upgrades and maintenance. Constructing or improving bridges, street lighting and heavy vehicle facilities such as rest areas or weigh stations are all projects that could be undertaken with funding from the program.
