Kites, Colour, Culture, is the theme for the 2018 Harden Kite Festival. Expect flying whales, dragons and even pigs, with even more big kites in the sky by kite enthusiasts from Sydney, Newcastle, Dubbo, Ballarat and Canberra.
There will also be an impressive line-up of cultural performances coming to the event. The Canberra School of Bollywood will perform a medley of popular, toe tapping Bollywood routines, whilst Wiradjuri Echoes will share their passion for indigenous culture, through dance. Japanese drums will liven things up and the Mexican Lindo Folk Group will deliver swirls of colour on stage. The theme wouldn’t be complete without bringing an array of international food. From South American empanadas to Indian street food, the festival will have something for all tastes – Italian, Filipino, Mexican, Vietnamese. The local New Madinah College in Young will again be serving delicious Lebanese food and sweets. Last year, their food stall was a great success and was one of the inspirations for this year’s cultural theme.
You won’t need to leave Harden to experience and taste the world.
Harden Kite Festival – Saturday 13 October from 10am to 4 pm.
