One of Australia’s foremost poets, Robyn Sykes is about to launch the Murrumburrah Writers’ Group with one of her exceptional performances on Thursday, October 18 at 6 pm.
Robyn, along with a number of important published authors from our region and beyond will briefly discuss their latest books and their very different journeys that led them to publishing.
The aim of the Murrumburrah Writers’ Group is to cater for beginners, published authors and anyone in between, from all genres. The new group will fall under the umbrella of the Harden Murrumburrah Arts Council and membership will cost the princely sum of $5 per year.
Organizer Robin Cooper stated, “The wide mix will make it an interesting, stimulating environment. Because of the size of the venue, appropriate groups can be formed so that every participant, no matter what stage he or she is at, can hopefully be accommodated.”
Robin went on to say that she was amazed at the level of interest and although initially the group would only cater for adults; next year there’re plans afoot to set up groups for children as well as for young adults.
The Writing group’s new home will be at the old Murrumburrah Court House, corner of Vernon and Albury Streets, Murrumburrah.
