The Boorowa Pig Push has managed to raise close to $60,000 for the Country Education Foundation, according to event organiser Justin Flemming.
The week-long event finished Sunday-week ago, with the journey seeing Mr Flemming and his team of 100 rotating pushers push a pig statue some 230 kilometres all the way up to Orange.
Mr Flemming thanked everyone for all their wonderful support, which he said was for an important cause.
“We had wonderful Country hospitality in Frogmore, Darby Falls, Cowra, Canowindra, Cargo, Nashdale and Orange. The event was incident free due to a dedicated and experienced crew backed up by the Boorowa Community. There was just a few minor cases of chafe and sore feet,” he said.
“The outcome of the event was twofold. We raised a significant amount of money but we also raised a lot of awareness about the Country Education Foundation. There are many people now talking about what CEF does, who previously did not know it existed.”
“It was our many wonderful sponsors who got the event off the ground and saw it through to the finish. We had great feedback from the communities and people are already putting their hand up to push in 2018.”
