Players in the Friday Night Pairs.

Play during the week started on Thursday afternoon with 18 players on the green.

Albert Carter and Jill Rosen had the highest winning margin for the day when they won their game by 10 shots.

This was also the margin needed to win the jackpot so all four players in that game were fairly happy.

The vouchers went to Macca McKenzie, Brian Wales and Tony Ruhl with a margin of 5 shots.

The other winners were Ann Gardner and Denis Rosen 24–23 and Jim McQuade and Margaret Gailey 19–18.

On Thursday night there were 20 teams of triples participating in the Guy Pickering competition.

Mud Chuckers and FATBBOTS both had convincing wins and scored 16 points with Mud Chuckers the winners on a count–back.

On Friday night the first games were played in the Friday Night Pairs event that will take place over the next few weeks with 12 teams taking part.

The competition has two divisions. Division A has five teams and they will play in a round-robin format over five weeks.

Division B has two sections of four teams and after playing three weeks of sectional play the two section winners will play off.

The results from Friday in Division A saw George Somerville and Jason Jones winning their game 25–10 and Jonathon Watson and Brian Madden picking up 4 shots on the final two ends to win 15–12.

Both games in Section 1 of the B Division had clear–cut wins with Glen Seward and Glen Benson winning 25–11 and Ted Loader and Mark Anderson winning 24–4.

The two games in Section 2 of this division were much closer contests.

Jill and Denis Rosen scored 5 shots on the final end of their game to win 16–14 and Joe Bargwanna and Cliff Traynor won their game 18–14.

With some players already having played on Thursday afternoon and Friday night the numbers for Saturday afternoon were not as big as the past few weeks.

Play consisted of three games of pairs.

The vouchers for the day went to Austin Crampton and Denis Rosen who won their game 26–11.

Other winners were Allan Langford and Greg Woods 19–9 and Albert Carter and Mark Brownlie 19–13.

The margin of 6 shots for that final game being what was needed for the jackpot.
