The very wet conditions over the weekend meant that no bowls took place at Young and the District Mixed Pairs Championship that was scheduled to be played at Cootamundra Country Club was postponed.
On Thursday afternoon, the weather was fine and sunny and 22 players were on the green. Col Chapman and Joe Bargwanna won the vouchers for the day with their winning margin of 18 shots. Other winning teams and their margins were Albert Carter and Colin Powell (11 shots), Aldo Malvicino and Harold Anderson (10 shots), Brian March and Peter Slater (10 shots) and Brian Christie, Bob Ruhl and John Cooper (7 shots).
The District Singles events are scheduled to be played this weekend. The Open division is to be played at Young, the Seniors at Boorowa Ex–Services and the President’s Reserves at Cootamundra Country Club.
Play at Young is scheduled to start at 10am on Saturday with 8 games to be played in the morning round. Players are advised to check the noticeboard for details of a preliminary round of the BPL Cup to be played at the club on Sunday the 23rd of August. Entries close on Wednesday the 19th of August.
During the week, the six districts in Zone 8 were advised that due to the on–going COVD-19 pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding restrictions on clubs set by the NSW Health Department, that both the President’s Cup and Bing Wallder Shield competitions have been cancelled for 2020.
