Bowls

Despite the early morning storms last Thursday conditions for the afternoon were quite good with fine and warm conditions.

A smaller than usual number of players were involved with just three games of pairs being played.

Terry Holmes and Cliff Traynor were the winners of the vouchers with a big margin of 19 shots.

Jeff Jacquier and Joe Bargwanna won their game by 6 shots and despite losing the last 5 ends of their game Brian Christie and Tom Preston won their game by 1 shot.

The first games for the current Guy Pickering Charity Challenge were played on Wednesday night.

Twelve teams took part and it is expected that there will be more teams playing this week.

Young Bees had the best score for the evening with a total of 15 points with ARMA Fabrication on 14 just one point behind them.

On Thursday night there were 14 teams involved and there are three regular teams who were unable to play.

Bowl Terras and FATBBOTS both finished with 16 points and Bowl Terras won the count–back.

Thanks to the members of the Young Lions Soccer Club for operating the BBQ for both nights and it was very pleasing to see two teams from their club playing on Thursday night.

The drizzly and cold conditions deterred all the usual players on Saturday with no games being played.

The weather was fine and warm on Sunday and there were 18 teams for the Sunday Funday games.

After playing two games of 12 ends the overall winners were Judith and Terry Mulligan.

Albert Carter and Andrew Hutchison finished in second place and third place went to Jill and Denis Rosen.

Thanks to Margo and Damien for their organisation.

All members and visitors are reminded that under the current health orders they are only permitted to be on the club premises – both inside and outside – if they have been double vaccinated.

Players are advised to check the notice boards for information concerning a special afternoon of bowls on Sunday 31st October.
