There were two games of the Mixed Pairs Championship completed on Saturday.

The game that saw Kathryn Betcher and Peter Watts playing Ann Gardner and Scott Douglas started off evenly with the scores level at 6–all after 8 ends.

Kathryn and Peter then did much better than Ann and Scott to win the game 26–9.

In the other game Elsie and Neal Hines were opposed to Sonia Ingall and David Quigley.

After 7 ends both teams had scored 5 shots. Elsie and Neal then won 6 of the next 9 ends to lead 18–9 and despite Sonia and David winning 4 of the final 5 ends the score was 20–18 in favour of Elsie and Neal.

Also on Saturday there were 20 players for Men’s Jackpot Bowls.

Michael Webb and Geoff Holt took out the vouchers for the afternoon with a margin of 23 shots.

The next highest margin was 15 shots for Tony Ruhl and Martin Betcher with other winning teams being Chris Wright and Cliff Traynor (8 shots), Brian Christie and John Cooper (8 shots) and Andrew Hutchison and Colin Powell (6 shots).

On Thursday afternoon there were 22 bowlers involved. There was only one winning margin in double figures with Ian Gailey and Ian Schofield winning their game by 11 shots.

Other winners and their margins were Andrew Hutchison and Vic Brown – 2 shots, Bob Ruhl and Colin Chapman – 3 shots, John Cooper and George Somerville – 5 shots, and the triples team of Michel Alavoine, Brian Gibson and Tom Preston – 6 shots.

There were 20 teams of triples playing on Wednesday night in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge. TGs had the highest score for the night with 17 points.

On Thursday night 14 teams participated and with four of the winning teams scoring 13 points the count-back saw Legs Eleven take out the vouchers.

Thanks to those players from the club who represented either the club or the district at Stockinbingal’s President’s Day on Sunday.

The next date for Sunday Funday Bowls has been changed to 6th March. An entry form is on the notice board.

Players should check the notice board for information concerning a possible Inter–Club competition planned to start in March.
