The final of the Club Fours was played on Sunday afternoon with John Cooper, Ian Schofield, Geoff Holt and Peter Watts defeating Tony Ruhl, Greg Woods, Damien Miller and David Quigley 17–15 in a close game with a lot of high quality play.

After 8 ends, the score was 7–all and after 16 ends, Peter’s team led 15–12. David’s team won the next three ends to level at 15 –all. A very fine last bowl by Peter on the 20th end gave his team the lead and they scored another shot on the final end to win by 2 shots. Congratulations to the winners.

The Zone 8 Fours were held at Ariah Park over the weekend. In the Seniors division, the Cootamundra Ex–Services team of Bob New, Don O’Neill, Greg Fisher and Jim White were the winners – a great result.

Harden’s team of Chris Hocking, Tom Glover, Terry Ricketts and Brian Madden won their first two games to reach the final in the Open division but lost to Ricky Potter’s team from Temora.

Four games in the Mixed Pairs Championship were completed during the past week. Meagan Parker and Damien Miller defeated Ann Gardner and Joe Bargwanna 28–8. Margaret and Ian Gailey defeated Heather Bailey and Ian Schofield 24–20 in a close contest. John and Kate Cooper outscored Therese Ruhl and Mark Anderson over the final 5 ends of their game to win 21–16 after the scores were level at 13–all. Jenny and Geoff Holt dominated the scoring in the second half of their game against Kathryn Betcher and Peter Watts to win 21–13.

Another four games in this event are scheduled to be played this week.

Play on Thursday afternoon saw 18 players involved in very warm conditions. The vouchers went to the triples team of Michel Alavoine, Max Penfold and Ian Schofield with a margin of 15 shots.

The three games of pairs were much closer with Brian March and Harold Anderson winning by 5 shots, Steve Walsh and Tom Preston by 2 shots and Milan Brankovic and Colin Stokell by 1 shot on an extra end.

Just four players braved the heat on Saturday afternoon (with another 8 playing at Cootamundra). The winning team was Harold Anderson and Vic Brown.

On Tuesday night in the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge, three teams scored 15 points and Envision won the count back over ARMA Fabrications and T’s Rule.

FATBBOTS were the winners on Thursday night with 14 points. Other winning scores were 13-and-a-half points and 3 teams with 13 points.

With the onset of very hot weather, a significant number of games are being played in the morning rather than the afternoon so please check if you are unsure of starting times.
