The playing conditions were very good last Thursday afternoon and 20 players were on the green.

Most games were close contests but the vouchers for the afternoon went to Chris Wright and Damien Miller who won their game by 19 shots.

Other teams to win their games were Glen Benson and Denis Rosen with a margin of 8 shots, Brian March and Joe Bargwanna whose margin was also 8 shots, Albert Carter and Les Fanning who won their game by 3 shots and Andrew Hutchison and Ian Schofield with a 2 shot margin.

There were a total of 30 players involved on Saturday afternoon and this included a privately arranged game of mixed pairs in addition to the normal men’s games.

Rod Cummings and George Somerville (playing with his new bowls) took out the vouchers when they won their game by 16 shots.

There was another sizeable margin when Andrew Hutchison, Colin Powell and Denis Rosen won their game by 14 shots.

Other winning teams were Scott Douglas and Tom Preston with a margin of 9 shots, Alan Gall and Dave Quigley with a margin of 7 shots, Milan Brankovic and Albert Carter with a margin of 6 shots, Jeff Jacquier and Peter Watts with a margin of 5 shots and Katherine Betcher and Bob Ruhl won the mixed pairs by 6 shots.

The second week of the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge saw plenty of players on the green with 14 teams playing on Wednesday night and 16 teams on Thursday night.

On Wednesday night four of the winning teams – Young Bees, T’s Rule, Arma Fabrications and Howzat – all scored 14 points but Fridays with 15 points were the winners of the vouchers.

The best score for Thursday night was for the Young Lions Club team who finished with 17 points.

Once again thanks to the members of the Young Lions Soccer Club who operated the barbecue on both nights.

Men and women players are asked to make a special effort to play on Sunday 31st October in an event being held in memory of Jock Rogerson who contributed so much to our club and passed away recently. All the details are on display at the club.

Information concerning the Club Triples Championship and the Annual General Meeting for the Men’s Bowling Club is on the notice board.

All members and visitors are reminded that under the current health orders they are only permitted to be on the club premises – both inside and outside – if they have proof that they have been double vaccinated against COVID–19.
