Quilts were beautifully displayed in the Young Town Hall on Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of May. Visitors came from Young and surrounding towns and cities, with both days well attended. Higher numbers than last year came through the doors to view the incredible work, effort and time put into the 63 quilts on display.

Winners of the various sections:

  • Professional Large Quilt – Sonia Randall from Cootamundra
  • Non-Professional Large Quilt – Julia Green
  • Professional Small Quilt – Sonia Randall
  • Small Quilt – Cathie Shannon
  • Youngest Quilter – Angel Parsons
  • Junior Quilter – Isabella Burns
  • Challenge Quilt – Joy Goodman

Lions Club 1st Vice District Governor from Forbes Peter Bright opened the Show and like everyone, was impressed with the quality of the quilts.

Local Lyn Stewart was the raffle winner of the sewing machine and overlocker, Lion Heather Bailey won the $100 Woolworths gift card and Judy Ryan from Bathurst won the IGA gift card. Judy very kindly re-donated her prize towards the Lions Club Father’s Day raffle which is currently running.

Special thanks go to sponsors South West Slopes Credit Union, Ozcot Excavators, Country Providore, Young Eyes, Art of Espresso and Sheehan’s Bakery. Thanks also to the stallholders who added interest and colour to the display of quilts.

A big thank you to Lions Club members and volunteers who helped set up, man the door, sell raffle tickets, count votes and dismantle the display. Big thanks also to the Quilt Committee led by Jenny Tate, who worked extremely hard before the event to make certain it was a great success.
