April 17 – The Vegetable Plot
Looking for something to do over the April school holidays? Ever wondered what it would sound like if a bunch of vegetables was whooshed up out of the soil by aliens, transformed into musical superbeings and sent back to earth on a mission of love and peas? Well it’s about time you found out! Aspara Gus, Ru Barb and Sir Paul McCarrotney are coming to Young Regional School of Music to teach you how to shake your stems, do the jumping bean and twist and sprout in this fresh, funky, award-winning live music show for kids, families, and foodies. You’ll never think about roots music or vegetables the same way again! 2-3pm. Young Regional School of Music.

April 19 – Take 5 on Friday - Young Regional School of Music Scholarship Students
Young Regional School of Music tutors and students regularly perform on the Take 5 stage and are some of the most talented performers in the region. The concert will take place between 12.30pm and 1pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is free.Bring a coffee, some lunch and your friends for an enjoyable outing.

April 20 – Young and Region Farmers Markets
Young & Region Farmers Markets 9am until 12pm at Anderson Park near the former railway station (Young Visitor Information Centre). BBQ and coffee available. Buy fresh straight from the producers. Local fruit, vegetables, plants, wine, honey, goats milk products and baked goods all on sale. April 20 – Graze, Jugiong
Jugiong’s own food and wine market. Local producers will be lining Riverside Drive with their brimming stalls and free samples for market goers. Please support local growers and makers in Jugiong. 9am-2pm. Riverside Drive, Jugiong.

April 24 – Author Talk with Andrew Holt
An Author Talk with former local man Andrew Holt will take place at Hilltops Council Library, Young branch on April 24 at 10.30am. Andrew is passionate about educating children and offers tips and tools in his second book, A Wise Water World Inspires Me to help children grow in emotional intelligence. His latest book continues with empowering questions around the themes of emotions, water and going with the flow. Everyone is welcome to attend including parents, grandparents, carers, educators and child development professionals.

April 25 – Anzac Day
Anzac Day will be commemorated in towns and villages across the Hilltops region with services scheduled at dawn, mid-morning and afternoon. Services are planned at Wirrimah, Koorawatha, Crowther, Bendick Murrell, Boorowa, Rugby, Bribbaree, Monteagle, Murringo, Harden-Murrumburrah, Jugiong, Wombat, Galong and Young.

April 26 – Take 5 on Fridays – Malcolm Dunbar
Malcolm Dunbar is back for a Take Five concert at Young Library. Malcolm, who formerly taught at Young High School, is composer of the Take Five at the Library song, which he will perform at this concert, along with lots of amusing songs about villages and attractions in the Hilltops area. Malcolm brings a group of musicians with him on his trip to Young and will team up with a number of local musicians too. 12.30-1pm. Young Library.

April 27 – Walk for Joan’s Wish
Walking for Joan’s Wish to end pancreatic cancer and increase awareness about DIPG and mental health. This walk will also bring awareness about the things Joan’s Wish is doing this year on November 9 with the NSW Sand Drag Titles to be held at Coppabella Road, Galong. Panky the Panda will be joining this walk and urge everyone to come along, walk and help collect donations on the way to the Light Horse pub for lunch. 9-11.30am. Harden Tyre Service.

April 27 – Bribbaree Show’n Shine
Family fun day out. Awards for many categories including car, trucks, bikes and utes. Racing Lawnmowers demo and Vintage Engine Club demo. Entertainment, food, bar and camping facilities available! Strictly no bring your own. 8am-7pm. Bribbaree Showground.

April 28 – Bush Poetry
The second of the Wombat Bush Poets 2019 events will be held on April 28 at the Young Hotel from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. These events are always held on the last Sunday of the month finishing the year at the National Cherry Festival Sunday morning, December 8. Come along and enjoy the fun. Unique Australian entertainment, tell yarns in traditional rhyme and rhythm or other poetry styles. Open mike. Juniors, instrumentalists and singers welcome. Gold coin donation optional.
