The 2nd round of the YWBC Pairs Championship was played last week between Elsie Hines and Margo Parker against Robyn Tierney and Kathryn Betcher. Elsie and Margo had a convincing win 28/5 with play terminating on the 16th end (normally 18 ends are played in this competition but when it is obvious one team cannot play enough shots to win, the game is finalised.)
Also competing in the Pairs Championship was the team of Jenny Holt and Kate Cooper opposed to Margaret Glasheen and Judy Watson. It was a well fought game with the scores 10 all on the 13th end. Jenny and Kate won 4 of the 5 remaining ends to win 18/13.
Jenny and Kate go on to the semi-final to play Heather Bailey and Judith Mulligan on Friday morning, the 17th of July. The winning team will then play Elsie and Margo in the final to be played Friday afternoon.
The SWD Singles Championship commences this Wednesday and Thursday. One game has already been played between Elsie Hines of Young who defeated Jennifer Blundell from Cootamundra Ex Services Club with a score of 25/3. Elsie will continue onto the 2nd round this Wednesday when all entrants will play. This event is a very popular one for spectators who are keen to see who comes out on top in the District.
