I am pleased to see Council participating in Youth Week and encourage our youth to attend the Hilltops Youth Week event at Roberts Park, Murrumburrah on Tuesday 16 April. Entry is $5 including a sausage sizzle lunch. Inflatable attractions will include a giant obstacle course, Jurassic Adventure, a volleyball court and mechanical bull. Tickets are available from Hilltops Council Offices with buses available from Boorowa and Young. This event provides an opportunity for our youth to have some fun in a safe environment while meeting new people and strengthening their relationships within the community.

Following a recent rain event, Council has lowered water restrictions in Boorowa from Level 2 back to Level 1. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully to ensure the ongoing management of water requirements for the Boorowa community.

Council are seeking comments on the recently completed Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy. The Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy is one of a series of studies being undertaken to inform the review of land use planning strategies and requirements in Hilltops. The Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy has analysed trends in our region and identified growth industries and employers. This includes highlighting four primary constraints and the potential strategies to overcome them to support and attract future growth.

It will also help inform the land use planning review in terms of where economic growth activities are most likely to be successful and how they will interact with the other activities found within Hilltops communities. The Strategy is available to view on Council’s website. Hard copies are also available to view at Hilltops Council Offices and Libraries. Submissions are to be received in writing or via email to submissions@hilltops.nsw.gov.au with ‘Hilltops Economic Growth and Land Use Strategy’ in the subject line by 6 May 2019. This feedback from the community will help further inform economic and land use planning across the Hilltops Council area.

I would like to remind the community that we have a new contact number for all Hilltops Council Offices (Boorowa, Harden & Young) 1300 HILLTOPS/1300 445 586.
