A Christmas Spending Spree for the Hilltops

Ninety four businesses from the Hilltops region have signed up for the Christmas Spending Spree which will see three lucky winners share in $9,400.00 to spend across the Young, Harden-Murrumburrah and Boorowa towns.

The Hilltops Christmas Spending Spree is a first-time collaboration between the Business Chambers of Boorowa, Harden-Murrumburrah and Young.

Chair of HRDC Richard Fleming said the campaign will strengthen the economy and showcase our great businesses.

“The benefits of ‘Shopping Local’ to regional towns are well recognised. Every time money is spent in a small town some of that money goes back into staff wages and other business costs. Figures are currently showing that $100 spent locally has a $180 impact on the local economy,” Mr. Fleming said.

Young Chamber of Commerce representative Alison Foreman said that the uptake to the promotion has been fantastic.

“The amount of businesses that have come on board is phenomenal, and really shows the strength in local spending campaigns like this,” Ms Foreman said.

“We have some real goals for the campaign, which is to strengthen foot traffic into Hilltops businesses, create a little pre-Christmas buzz and of course support spend in local businesses across the region.”

Participating stores will be displaying the ‘Christmas Shopping Spree’ posters in their windows and each time you spend in store you are eligible to enter the draw. Three lucky tickets will be drawn in each town (Boorowa / Harden/Murrumburrah / Young) on Sunday, December 15. The times of the draws are 11.00am Boorowa Courthouse Gardens, Harden 12.30pm at Bill the Bastard and in Young at 2.00pm at Anderson Park. The draw will be made by Santa.

The winners will be able to use their prize to purchase either products or services from participating businesses in the town where they received their winning ticket.

The Hilltops Christmas Spending Spree will end on COB Friday, 13th December 2019 so get spending in your local participating stores before the draw closes!
