Cloverleigh Golf Club came alive on July 9 for the Young and District Multicultural Association’s Christmas in July celebration.

President, Josie Johnson said over 50 people, adults and children, joined together to share a delicious array of foods and enjoy each other’s company.

“We were very lucky to get a beautifully sunny day and great weather which was enjoyed by the YADMA family,” Mrs Johnson said.

“The setting was perfect to play outdoor games as well as enjoying the woodfire barbecue - perfect for roasting marshmallows.”

“Everybody brought a meal to share which meant there were plenty of different foods to enjoy, and take away afterwards.”

There were also indoor games and activities to enjoy, including karaoke.

“We started with the outdoor group photo shoot then everybody went inside to sing the Merry Christmas song before enjoying the feast of foods cooked by attendees,” Mrs Johnson said.

“There were also combined birthday celebrations for late June and early July for Harmony Belcher, Michele Gad, Mindi Mendoza and Colin Minogue.”

“They each blew their own birthday cake candles with lots of photos taken.”

“The cakes then became our assorted desserts.”

Towards the end of the festivities, there were raffle draws won by Shirlita Marion Le and Jane Hanley.

Rey Surilla handed out sweets and lollies to kiddies, young and old alike, in the guise of Santa Claus.

Mrs Johnson gave special thanks to Ivy Belcher, Michelle Gadd and Colin and Bernie Durham for organising the games: Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Let’s Hoop On Hoola Hoops, Clucky Chooks and Egg Game.

She also thanked Minda De Guzman for organising karaoke.

There was also a huge thank you to hosts Peter and Tonie Frecklington for opening Cloverleigh Golf Club to YADMA members.

The group looks forward to doing it all again next year.
