The Lions Club of Young held their annual Changeover earlier this week.

Publicity Officer Heather Miller said, “Leadership was officially handed to the incoming team, with David Tame taking the helm as President.”

“Supporting him in the year ahead, Lyn Freudenstein steps into the role of Vice President alongside Greg Whiter as 2nd Vice President.”

“The club’s financial and administrative duties will be overseen by Treasurer Dennis Foster and Secretary Nancy Whiter, respectively, Marie Tame as Bulletin Editor, Phillip Hewson as Lion Tamer, and Tail Twister Paul Miller.”

Awards were also presented.

“Each year, Lions Club shine a light on an individual who gives generously and freely, their time, energy and commitment to their chosen organisations and charities. Among such individuals, Kay McDonald stands out as a beacon of service, compassion, and initiative, earning the esteemed title of Lions Citizen of the Year.”

“For many years of support Paul Miller was awarded Lion of the Year,” said Heather.

The Lions have also continued work on the Lions Lookout.

“Continuing efforts to maintain Lions Lookout have recently focused on further tree planting. Lion’s members are working to plant native species, ensuring they thrive in harmony with the existing surrounds.”

“Regular maintenance, including watering, is being carried out to support the healthy growth of the older and newly added trees,” said Heather.

Each year, Lions hold an international convention to foster global connections and showcase the strength, unity and reach of Lions.

Last year’s convention was held in Melbourne, where many members from Young attended.

This year’s international convention is currently underway in Orlando. Highlights and snippets can be viewed on Facebook.
