Yes, you read it right, Taryn Riles, one of the fantastic School Learning Support Officer’s at Boorowa Central School is the 2020 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year!

Mr Graham Jones, the Principal at Boorowa Central School said, “Taryn was initially recognised as the NSW finalist and we have all been waiting nervously to find out if she could go one better. Thankfully, she received a call to confirm what we had all been hoping and she was overwhelmed with emotion as she received the fantastic news.”

Stella Liliendal, co-founder and Director of Australian Teacher Aide said, “We wish to congratulate Taryn, as well as the State finalists in this year’s Australian Teacher Aide of the Year awards. We received 142 nominations from government, independent and Catholic schools from around Australia. The awards are our way of recognising the valuable contribution teacher aides make to student learning and wellbeing nationally, and exemplify the diverse roles of education para-professionals, and their integral role to student learning and wellbeing.”

Taryn was recognised for her ongoing facilitation of the Stronger Smarter program, her work as the Staff Wellbeing coordinator, her expertise when supporting children with learning and behavioural difficulties and her passion for the school and its students. Taryn will be presented with an engraved award and certificate soon.
