The Rotary Club of Boorowa ran their Beanie and Beret Competition at the recent 23rd Boorowa Irish Woolfest over the long weekend.

The theme for this year’s competition was ‘all things baby’. The quality of entries was very high, making judging difficult.

There were 9 categories in the competition, which is part of Rotary’s Mental Health Month of October.

Competition Winners Category 1: Yarn - Margaret Hanrahan of Bathurst for her beautiful pure wool “Strawberry Shortcake” beanie.
Category 2: Fabric - Emma Jones of Boorowa for her “Baby Bear” beanie made from an Op-Shop bought t-shirt and old buttons.
Category 3: Recycled/earth friendly - Emma Jones of Boorowa for her “Baby Bear” beanie.
Category 5: Irish/Australian - Emma Jones of Boorowa for her “Running of the Sheep” beanie - featuring three sheep on the front and three shamrocks on the back.
Category 8: Most Creative - C A Pickering of Dunlop (ACT) for her knitted green “Shark” beanie complete with button eyes and white knitted teeth.
Category 9: Most Relevant to Theme - C A Pickering of Dunlop (ACT) for her “Baby Tam O” multi-coloured beret with a large pom-pom on top.
