Last Friday, October the 25th, the annual Boorowa Combined Primary Schools Touch Football/Netball Carnival was held at the Boorowa Showground.

The Showground was a hive of activity, with 431 teams participating in the annual event. 49 schools took part on the day, in 19 rounds of continuous play. There were approximately 4300 children competing. Participating schools came from Canberra, Queanbeyan, Braidwood, Goulburn, Temora, Cootamundra, Young, Murrumburrah, Binalong, Bowning and Wee Jasper as well as the local area.

Many children, teachers and parents left saying, “Thank you for a great day,” and that they would be back again next year despite the weather. Despite the wind, dust and pockets of rain, the children’s enthusiasm and enjoyment of the day was not dampened.

The Carnival is not possible without the co-operation of both the Boorowa Central School and St Joseph’s School and their communities. Many hours are spent in preparation for the Carnival, as well as on the day. Both schools are very grateful for the support given by the local secondary students.

Special thanks to the Hilltops Council for all their assistance, Boorowa Community Bank, Boorowa Recreation Club, Boorowa Rugby Club, Netball NSW, Touch NSW and the many Boorowa community members who volunteered to help with car and bus parking and line marking. A special thanks also goes to all the barbecue cooks, canteen workers and those who provided First Aid.
