Boorowa Edges Out Harden To Secure Home Grand Final

The Boorowa Goldies have won the local derby against Harden to secure their place in the Grand Final.

Josh Carmody opened the scoring with an early try in the corner to have the Goldies up 5-0. Harden then answered the try right on half time to go to the break 5-5.

Following some great scrum work from the Goldies forwards, Michael Berry scored. With the conversion and then a penalty kicked by Carmody, the Goldies lead 15-5.

Both teams then scored charge-down tries to have the score at 22-10 with 25 minutes left on the clock.

Harden scored twice to close the gap and make it anyone’s game.

With the game coming down to the wire, Goldies Michael Berry scored right on the buzzer to secure the win for the Goldies, with the final score 27-20.

The win secured the Goldies a home Grand Final, to be played at Boorowa Showground on Saturday the 23rd of August.

Club Secretary Steph Corcoran said, “The club is so proud of the Goldies, the boys have played consistently all season and we can’t wait to see what they do in the final.”

“We hope to see the whole community in gold and getting behind them at the grand final on August 23rd.”

“Captain-Coaches Keagan Size, Mark Poplin and Toby McGrath have led the team so well this year.”

“They’ve built a large squad full of talent and all playing for the right reasons,” said Steph.

Boorowa locals are encouraged to get behind the Goldies by painting the town gold in the lead up to the home Grand Final.

Entry to the Grand Final will be $15 as per Central West Rugby rules.

Harden now turn their attention to hosting the elimination final this Saturday against Cootamundra at Roberts Park for their chance to play in the Grand Final.
