Boorowa Ex-Services Bowls Club President’s Day

John Bromham

Sunday saw 88 bowlers from around the region play the annual tournament. Teams came from Young, Cootamundra, Cowra, Yass, Belconnen, Bribbaree and the Boorowa Rec Club. The format was two fifteen end games with lunch provided in between.

The winners for the day were a local Boorowa Ex-Services club team skippered by Bill Luxford and included Maureen Westbury, Charlie Sorgsepp, and John Bromham. John is a thirteen-year-old bowler playing great bowls. His grandfather David is rightly proud of John’s efforts. At the presentation of prizes, John was elated.

Another player who had a big weekend was Hilltops Council candidate John Piper. John turned up on Sunday after a long Saturday night nervously watching local election results. He played in two tight games against teams from Cowra and Belconnen. His other team members were Skipper Shane Foote, Michael Munns and John Dymock.

President Gerard Dunne thanked all those who travelled, Evonne Murphy who sold raffle tickets all day, and the volunteer caterers for their forty years’ service to this event. The Bowls Club wishes all readers a happy, healthy and holy Christmas and prosperous and COVID-free 2021.
