Boorowa Gun Club recently hosted their annual day/night competition, which began in the morning with the 50 target double barrel event with no less than nine possibles (50/50).

The winner of the event was Matt Schiller with Matt Gerstenberg coming 1st in AA and Vincenzo Belcastro second in AA. First in A grade after a shoot off was Damian Rowett, with Matt Harris coming second. B grade was won by Francis Bartolo with Mervyn Campbell coming second.

Murray Fleming won C grade after a shoot off with John Thistleton who took second place. The second event of the day was the 30 target Handicap. The winner of the event after a two way shoot off was Trish Carter with Grady Evans coming second, Bryce Hallam took out third place.

Event three was the 30 target Point Score with some excellent scores posted. Six shooters shot the possible and after a lengthy shoot off, Glenn Cable and Matt Schiller agreed to split the overall win. Justin Smith took out 1st in AA grade with Greg Coleman coming second. Giulio Serafin won A grade with Troy Cook coming in second. B grade was won by Neville Betts with Nicole Crisp taking second place. C grade was won by Ian Crisp with Murray Fleming coming second.

The night time events started with a 10 target Point Score Eye Opener, only nine shooters managed the possible (30/30), Geoffrey Mason, Justin Smith, Troy Cook, Joe Mooney, Rex Murphy, Greg Coleman, Glenn Cable, Matt Harris and Fred Twarloh.

Event five, the 30 target point score, was won by Grady Evans with a 90/90 and Matt Schiller and Greg Coleman both scored 89/90 in AA. The A grade honours went to Damien Rowet and Giulio Serafin both with 87/90. The best in B grade was Francis Bartolo on 84/90 with Kate Thistleton on 81/90. C grade was won by Geoffrey Mason with a 86/90 from John Thistleton, who shot a 82/90.

As usual, a lovely dinner was prepared to tide everyone over for the night’s activities and was well received by all that stayed for the night events. Boorowa Gun Club’s next shoot will be on Saturday 26 October and will commence at 11.00am. If you are interested in having a try at clay target shooting, the Boorowa Gun Club is open for practice for members and beginners every Tuesday evening from 5.00 till 7.30pm. All ages and abilities, 12 years and up. Photo ID is required and minors require a legal guardian present.
