Geoffrey and Handicap event winner Kruno Luketic.

Boorowa Gun Club’s February competition shoot was held on Saturday 22 February. Twenty five shooters attended the event with the windy conditions early on making for some challenging targets, especially for the back markers.

The Handicap event was won by Kruno Luketic with a 24/25. Kruno’s win earned him an extra metre next time he shoots a handicap event. Second and third place had to be decided by a shoot off, with Adam Boswell and Geoffrey Mason both scoring 23/25 in the event. Adam won the shoot off taking out second place with Geoffrey coming third.

The second event of the day was the 75 Target Medley, made up of 25 targets double barrel, 25 targets single barrel and 25 targets point score. Darcy Maloney was the best on the day scoring a 124/125, only dropping one point in the point score section to secure the overall win.

First in AA grade was Giulio Serafin on 121/125 with Daryl Reed taking second. First in A grade was Warwick Keable on 117/125 with Robert Churchill taking second place. The best in B grade on the day was Adam Reid on 114/125 with a shoot off score of 23/35, Kruno Luketic scoring 21/35 in the shoot off settling for second. William Shaw won C grade with a 104/125.

For the second month in a row, the overall High Gun went to Darcy Maloney on 146/150 with some great shooting. Ladies High Gun for the day went to Nicole Crisp on 132/150. Veterans High Gun went to Darryl Reed and Giulio Serafin. Both tied on 140/150.

The usual fantastic food was available including bacon and egg rolls, hamburgers etc cooked on the BBQ by the Club’s own resident Master Chef Geoff Mason. Many thanks to Chantelle for running the kitchen on the day with a lovely afternoon tea and a smile for everyone. Thanks also to Christine and Garry for running the office. Anthony Gray stepped into the handicapping role for the day which was greatly appreciated. Damian Rowett was the shoot marshal for the day and by all accounts did a great job, his first time in this important role.

Boorowa Gun Club’s next monthly shoot will be held on Saturday 28th March 2020, commencing at 11.00am. The programmed events include a 25 Target Handicap event, 50 Target Point Score and 50 Target Tara Park Double Barrel Championship.
