The recent rains have caused havoc at the Boorowa Golf Course, in fact, Club Manager, Sharon Webster says that she’s never known anything like it in all her years working at the Club.

While we don’t have a rainfall station in Boorowa, the rainfall totals from 1st August-15th August 2022 from nearby localities tell the story:

  • Bowning (Wanangui) – 181.62 mm
  • Murrumburrah (Historical Society) – 77 mm
  • Narrowa (Lachlan River) – 62.2 mm

The rain caused Ryan’s Creek to swell, sending water and debris that almost scaled the “Monet” bridges in the golf course. On the upside, the surge caused a multitude of stray golf balls to be flushed out of water traps. Many thanks to everyone who pitched in to help tidy everything up. Here’s hoping for a break in the weather so that the course can dry out and keen golfers can play again.

There were questions in the week about whether Boorowa Recreation Club was still acting as Boorowa’s Return and Earn point.

Club Manager, Sharon Webster, has assured people that the Club is still open for Return and Earn seven days a week: Mon - Fri 4pm - 6pm; Sat - Sun 10am - 4pm (winter hours).

Sharon asks people ring the Club before coming to the Return and Earn if they have over 1,000 items. The only reason why returns are paused is when the container is full and pick up has yet to occur.

Sadly, someone decided to help themselves to bags not locked in the container. Security cameras have now been installed.

Sharon was keen to assure people that Return and Earn is still operational, “Please don’t think we have lost this wonderful service to the town; it is still very much a part of the Club,” she said.
