Boorowa Rugby Union Club hosts Old Boys Day

On Saturday the 13th of May, Boorowa Rugby Union Club held their annual Old Boys Day.

The Club hosts Old Boys Day to recognise, honour and respect old players and members of the club to thank them for carrying the club for many years.

The Goldilocks played at 2pm against Temora, where they had a tie scoring 36-36. Eliza Taylor made her team proud with a hat-trick in the second half.

Along with her teammate Bella Piper, they worked together to convert to a draw by scoring a try under the posts after the siren.

An impressive kick by Bella Piper provided a conversion bringing the Goldilocks the tie.

Points were awarded to Kimberley Collins, Bella Piper, Shae Roberts, Eliza Taylor and Lucy Kershaw due to their excellent sportsmanship and strategic plays throughout the day.

Charlotte Penrose was awarded with Player’s Player and Anna Dreverman received the Old Boys Pick.

Later in the day the Goldies played at 3:15pm where they smashed Temora giving a win 45-0.

Extraordinary skill and performance was executed by Mark Poplin at 9 and Harry Gibbons at 10 that set up opportunities for the rest of their teammates who took full advantage which won them the game.

Brendan Welch achieved his first try, making his teammates and supporters proud.

Keagan Size, George Chudleigh, Adam Hick, Ben Griffiths and Toby McGrath scored momentous tries on the day. Giving the game his all, Bullfrog scored a try and kicked a conversion.

Micheal Berry, Adam Hick, Slippery Simpson and Brendan Welch’s performance on the day won them all points.

Other award winners were George Chudleigh (Player’s Player), Ben Johnson (Mikes Mug) and Slippery Simpson (Old Boys Pick).

Life membership was awarded to Ben Johnson with 18 years of service to the club where he has worn many hats such as player, coach and assistant coach.

The club acknowledged his dedication to the organisation for many years with his name on the life members plaque.
