The 2024 Boorowa Country Education Foundation grant recipients Hannah Southwell, Grace Taylor, Rachel Corkery, Justin Fleming (Boorowa CEF President), Lydan Stephenson, Joseph Prosper, Lily McKinley and Amelia Manion celebrate their good fortune.

Boorowa’s Country Education Foundation branch recently awarded over $45,000 in grants to 20 local students for the 2024 calendar year.

It was the highest amount allocated in a single year in the branch’s 30-year history.

The students, all enrolled in a range of university degrees, apprenticeships and traineeships, will use the grant money to assist with education and employment expenses while they undertake their formal study and training.

Grants were awarded at an official ceremony at The Occasional Wine Bar in Boorowa on Friday, March 15.

The event coincided with the Country Education Foundation’s inaugural Boot Bash event, which aimed to raise funds to help regional and rural students give the cost of living crisis ‘the boot’.

Boorowa’s Country Education Foundation President, Justin Fleming, sait it was an honour to recognise this year’s recipients.

“I am extremely proud to be awarding grants to this year’s recipients,” Mr Fleming said.

“It’s not just the recipients’ family and friends who care about their career and future, but the whole community.

“We’re lucky to live in a caring community that supports our young people to establish their careers.

“I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their ongoing support, and for changing the lives of so many of Boorowa’s young people.”

The Boorowa Country Education Foundation branch would like to thank the Boorowa community for their ongoing support, including Tilt Renewables, the Glenlothian Education Foundation, South Eastern Livestock Exchange (SELX), Mainline Automotive Equipment, Graymont, the Waratah Education Foundation, Boorowa Lions’ Club and Boorowa Rotary Club.

They would also like to thank St Joseph’s School, Boorowa and Boorowa Central School for raising funds as part of the Boot Bash.

The Country Education Foundation was founded in Boorowa in 1993.

Since that time, over $17 million has been allocated by the Foundation nationally to support regional youth achieve their study goals.
