Celebrating 32 years in business this year, Cathy and her husband, Roland, have seen their business grow from a cottage industry with products being cooked in their domestic kitchen to having a purpose-built facility that has the highest global food safety accreditation.
“Having grown up on the land we both wanted to bring up our family in that environment. Our initial plans were to grow vegetables organically and turn surplus crops into jams, pickles, chutneys, and sauces but the preservation of the fruit and vegetable soon took over and we decided to take that path,” explained Cathy.
“When I look back the early years were not easy, having three children under 4 years and I seemed to be competing to use the kitchen sink until we built a purpose-built kitchen. I used to cook 600 Christmas cakes in my domestic oven each year and I hand wrote all our labels.”
Today, Cathy predominantly works in the office, although she still cooks the Christmas cakes and puddings, and now they produce over 100 different products, which are distributed throughout NSW and QLD and employ several local people.
Quality certainly stands the test of time.
