The 70th National Cherry Festival Queen and King competition has put a call out across the Hilltops region for entrants.

This year’s competition will be a special part of the Festival’s 70th anniversary celebrations, with the National Cherry Festival Committee calling for past Queens, Kings and participants from previous years to attend a gala ball in Young.

Entrants to the competition need to be 18 years or older on the 1st of July this year and reside in the Hilltops region. The competition includes ambassador duties and fundraising for their local charity or not for profit organization in the lead up to the Festival.

The Cherry Queen and King competition is an important part of the National Cherry Festival, with entrants contributing 40% of the funds they raise to the Festival to ensure its continued success. 60% of the funds they raise go to their chosen local charity or not for profit organization.

Over the National Cherry Festival’s 70 year history, the Cherry Queen and King competition has run over the majority of years, which prompted the call for past participants to join in the celebrations.

Hilltops residents interested in entering the 2019 competition can collect an information pack from the Young Visitor Information Centre.

If you are a past participant or have images from past National Cherry Festival’s, contact the Young Visitor Information Centre or Emma Hill at emma.hill@hilltops.nsw.gov.au with contact details.
