Young Mobile Play Activities, a beloved service of the Hilltops area, held their fortnightly visit to Boorowa at their new venue the Boorowa Ex Services on Thursday morning the 15th of June.

Typically when the Playgroup visits town they provide toys and activities for children under the age of 5. However, this week was different due to Child Mental Health Week. Special guests Helen from Nurture Yoga and Relaxation and Ashleigh from Murrumbidgee Health joined the visit.

After a relaxing yoga session from Helen, Ashleigh discussed the importance of the first 2000 days of a child’s life. She explained examples of early life experiences including; a strong predictor of a child’s achievement in early schooling, a predictor of academic achievement, associated with an increased risk of drug and alcohol abuse and an increased risk of antisocial and aggressive behaviour.

Along with brilliant new information about their children’s development and how to nurture their progression, the mothers received a gift bag full of crucial informational pamphlets to take home.

“At the end we were given bubbles for a breathing exercise and of course the kids loved that too. After that we were given a gift bag with some small goodies. And we enjoyed a few snacks as one of the ladies was very nice to bring some,” said Rebecca Dwyer.

The ladies who attended the day all agreed that the kids were not the only ones who enjoyed the day and hope that more similar events can be organised in the future for Boorowa Mums.
