City Meets Country Choir Event In Murrumburrah

The Hilltops Choir performing in June at Harden Grange for World Music Day.
Hilltops Choir is teaming up with the Canberra Community Voices for a special performance later this month.
The special choral concert will take place at the Ross Memorial Church in Murrumburrah on Saturday the 23rd of August.
In the leadup to the concert, members of both choirs will meet in the adjacent church hall for a midday lunch.
Following the lunch, there will be a joint workshop conducted by Canberra based musical director Rodney Clancy.
Rodney was the director of Hilltops Choir for a number of years, handing over to local musician Stewart Bruce.
Rodney is now the director of the Canberra Community Voices and Stewart is his regular weekly accompanist.
“With these various connections and a number of songs in common, it seemed like a no-brainer to bring both choirs together for musical development, performance and camaraderie,” said Stewart.
“The aim is to have a workshop and recital for both choirs in Murrumburrah, and then a reciprocal visit to Canberra later on.”
The workshop will focus on two items to be sung as massed choir numbers. Then each choir will also perform some of their own repertoire at the concert.”
“The excellent acoustics of the Ross Memorial Church, together with use of the magnificent Yamaha S6X concert grand piano and enthusiastic voices is sure to combine for a wonderful afternoon of song,” said Stewart.
Following the concert, attendees are invited to attend afternoon tea in the hall.
The concert will begin at 2pm and entry is by donation at the door.
Ross Memorial Church is now centrally heated so you can enjoy the concert in the warmth.
