The Community Planting Day will be held on the 10th of May.

The Rivers of Carbon team will be holding a Community Planting Day on the Boorowa River next month.

The day will be held on Saturday the 10th of May at Binalong with morning tea and lunch provided.

Rivers of Carbon Project Officer Alex James said, “The Community Planting Day is part of the Rivers of Carbon Boorowa project that focuses on protecting and restoring forty hectares of riparian land and stream banks.”

“The project will enhance water quality, biodiversity and habitat connectivity on farms and in Boorowa.”

The day will begin with a cuppa before heading to the river.

“Our staff demonstrate how to plant native trees and shrubs, followed by handson planting opportunities for participants,” said Alex.

“After lunch we will lead a gully walk while demonstrating the Stream Condition Checklist.”

“See first-hand how restoring sensitive gully areas aids productivity while creating biodiversity hot spots for native plants and animals.”

Participants are asked to register for catering purposes, wear sturdy shoes and wear appropriate outdoor clothing.
