“Live life like they left the gate open” - was a simple quote that spoke to Leanne Schulz as she looked for a fundraising idea that was a little different to the rest.

“I love the quote - because life is unpredictable, and I think we need to live by this motto,” Leanne said.

Choosing the right idea for the fundraiser was particularly important for Leanne because she hopes to raise as much money as possible for her youngest sister, Ellie Robertson who is battling cancer for the second time.

“I am the eldest,” Leanne said.

“Even with a 17-year age gap, we are very close.”

Leanne really wanted to do something fun and interactive, something that people could get involved in and creative with.

“It occurred to me that I could take something that I do daily and turn it into a workshop for others to get involved in,” Leanne said.

“The Highland cow is so cute and easy to get creative with.”

Leanne is conducting three workshops at three locations - Harden, Cootamundra and Young.

Participants will construct their own 3D sign measuring 48 by 28 cm, with all materials included in the cost of the workshop.

“We will have your cutout timber pieces, paint, glue, guidance, and everything you will need to create your very own masterpiece ready for you on the day,” Leanne said.

“Afternoon tea is also provided.”

“It will be a fun, messy and creative afternoon out, with a few laughs along the way, all whilst supporting my sister in her fight. I am really looking forward to seeing how each one turns out, each one will be unique.”

The workshops include:

Tickets to each workshop can be purchased through Eventbrite, with all proceeds going to Ellie’s Second Fight.

They cost less than $100 each.

Leanne said links could also be found on the Facebook page Ellie’s Second Fight.

“I am really hoping to sell all the tickets to each event,” Leanne said.

“I also really hope Ellie will be able to attend one or more of these workshops, but it will depend on what is happening with her treatment at the time.”

“I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support for Ellie and I hope to see at one of the workshops.”
