Entries to the 2024 Irish Woolfest Art Show Exhibition and Sale are due by September 20.

Pulling all the strings in the background, organiser Susan Corcoran is excited about this year’s Boorowa Irish Woolfest Art Show Exhibition and Sale.

“The first thing people should know is it is going ahead,” Ms Corcoran said.

“We will be raising funds for our two local schools for their art departments.

“We will be having a raffle as well.

“Tory Corcoran has made a wonderful artwork for our raffle.

“Creatives need to get creating.

“We’ve already got at least 18 artists signed up, and some big names and amazing works.

“Everyone else needs to start saving their money and clearing their walls so they can purchase a new piece of art to hang.”

If you’re not in the market for a new piece of art, but want to be a part of supporting the local community you can still visit the exhibition and enjoy the works on display and purchase a few raffle tickets.

The Art Show was originally started and run by a group of ladies from St John’s Anglican Church in Boorowa.

After COVID hit, forcing them to skip a couple of years, the ladies decided that they had done what they could with the event.

Susan Corcoran wasn’t prepared to see the event lost to the Boorowa Irish Woolfest.

“We have all the other events like Quick Shear and fireworks, but the Art Show is an all weather conditions event.

“I just didn’t want to see it lost, so I took it over and it’s been really fun.

“It’s a very community event, too, with a group of women cooking foods for supper, another group of ladies hanging the artworks.”

The Art Show will be set up at the Old Court House building on Marsden Street in Boorowa.

Important dates:

  • Friday, September 20 - entries close.

  • Wednesday, October 2 - paintings to be delivered to the Old Court House between 10 am and 4 pm.

  • Friday, October 4 - official opening night from 5 pm to 7 pm. Beverages and nibbles and $10 entry.

  • Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6, exhibition open between 10 am and 4 pm.
