On the 10th of December, representatives of the CWA’s South West Group (SWG) met at the Binalong Country Club for its final council meeting of 2022.

Around 35 women participated from Boorowa, Harden, Young, Binalong, Canimbla, Cowra, Grenfell, Morongla Creek, and Quandialla branches.

The catering was carried out by the Binalong Branch and the luncheon was spectacular, with a range of cold meats, delicious salads, and delectable desserts to choose from.

The guest presenter was bush poet, Robyn Sykes.

Robyn delighted participants with three poems: one about little Timmy who was denied chocolate throughout the year by his health-conscious parents, but finally got to illicitly indulge on Christmas morning; “Elvis Lives!”; and “Lovely Lies”.

Participants learned that Leona Irvine from Canberra will be conducting a “Land Cookery” information session for SWG members at the Boorowa Recreational Club at 11am on the 11th of February.

The SWG Land Cookery and Handicraft Day will be held on the 18th of March 2023 in Canimbla.

What happens on the day is that representatives from each Branch bring along the very best cooking and handicrafts made by Branch members for judging.

The items that score the highest are then judged at the State competition, which is being held next year in Bathurst.

A “trading table” and raffle was organised by the Boorowa Branch, which raised $196.00 for the South West Group.

Items for sale at the trading table included stocking fillers, playdough, and a host of great videos.
