Dare To Dream Community Workshop In Harden

110 locals attended the community workshop.
Harden Murrumburrah Regional Development Corporation (HRDC) recently held a very successful community workshop, with 110 locals taking part.
HRDC hosted Peter Kenyon to run a series of focus groups and workshops in Harden-Murrumburrah.
CEO of HRDC Melissa Pinney said, “Peter is the lead consultant of Bank of I.D.E.A.S. and has had 35 years’ experience in working in the field of community change and renewal.”
“Peter works with communities to discover and mobilise their strengths and transform themselves,” said Melissa.
Over Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th of September, focus groups were held with topics including farming and transport, ageing in place, the main street, volunteering, community groups and youth.
“There was also a session for local businesses about ‘’Keeping the Tills Ringing in Town” on Thursday morning at the Barnes Store and Emporium, which was also well attended.”
“The community workshop on Wednesday night generated commitment from community members to become involved with implementing many of the great ideas generated on the night.”
“I’ve been approached by lots of people in the community since we held the community workshop who have said they are excited to see what comes next and most importantly are keen to be involved.”
“Peter led everyone at the workshop through a process of mapping out all the assets we already have in Harden-Murrumburrah. Tables worked together to identify people assets, institutions, physical environment, local economy, social networks, and cultural assets.”
The workshop went for two and a half hours and at the end, everyone attending the workshop was provided with an opportunity to provide HRDC with a big idea for Harden-Murrumburrah and let HRDC know how they could personally contribute to making it happen.
“Over the coming weeks, HRDC will be analysing all of the information gathered across the two days of focus groups and workshops and will share highlights with the local community. Ultimately, HRDC’s work with Peter Kenyon will inform the development of a Harden-Murrumburrah Community Plan.”
“Peter Kenyon helped us understand that as a community we are already rich in assets, and we have many people who want to be involved and contribute to positive change.”
“The community workshop was a great reminder of a lesson we all learned from the natural disaster earlier this year - we live in a caring community with an incredible spirit, and we are stronger when we all work together,” said Melissa.
