Bowls

Bowls on Thursday afternoon saw 20 players take part in very pleasant conditions. Ian Gailey and Les Fanning took out the vouchers with the very big margin of 23 shots.

In other games, Tony Ruhl and Geoff Holt won their game by 12 shots, John Cooper and Tom Preston won by 11 shots, Kevin Bryant and Kevin Porter won by 5 shots and Albert Carter and Harold Anderson won by 3 shots.

The playing conditions on Saturday were also very good with most players not requiring their warm tops for the first time in many weeks. Michael Webb and Ian Schofield certainly enjoyed the conditions as they won their game by 19 shots to claim the vouchers. Ian Gailey and Tom Preston won their game by 11 shots and James Freudenstein and Cliff Traynor won by 5 shots.

In a game where both teams recorded a score of 7 shots, Albert Carter and Vic Brown finished in front 25-23. Darryle Miller and Ged Hardman were behind 13–4 at the half–way mark of their game but managed to win 18–16.

A final reminder to players interested in playing in the Club Triples that entries close on Wednesday 16th September. If you are interested in playing but are not in a team, make sure you let Cliff Traynor know because there are some other players in the same situation.

Also, entries for the Club Fours close on Saturday 19th September. All the details for both these events are on the notice board.

An updated program for District and Zone events is on the board.

The first event to be played will be the District Mixed Pairs that has been re–scheduled for Saturday 10th October.

Updated draws for the Zone 8 Championships in Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours are also on the board.

Nomination forms for the Men’s Bowls Committee for 2020-2021 are on the notice board as well as the details for the Men’s Bowling Club Annual General Meeting.

The Annual General Meeting for the Young Bowling Club Limited will not be held at its usual time in September and details will be available as soon as they are finalised.
