Carinya Court Complex has been awarded a $15,000 grant from Essential Energy for a renewable energy initiative.

The grant will allow Carinya Court to install solar panels and a small battery to power their accommodation which supports the elderly and disadvantaged residents of Boorowa and the surrounding area.

The new solar power system will allow Carinya Court to save at least 50% of their energy costs, allowing them to better support their residents.

Manager Trish Riles said Essential Energy has provided the grant “to add solar panels, inverter and battery to our car shed to help with our electricity accounts.”

“We are so grateful for the grant that we’d like to show our appreciation by letting everybody know about this annual donation of funds to help communities.”

“Each year charities can apply for a one off grant.”

“We are so pleased and thankful to receive this money which is in our bank already. Quick and easy to deal with,” said Trish.

The grant was part of Essential Energy’s Essential Grants program, provides financial support to community groups across the network area with a focus on initiatives that align with Essential Energy’s corporate and sustainability strategies.
