Fancy Yourself A Bush Poet?

As the fire coals are glowing to the gentle breeze that’s blowing, smell the tang of burning bush wood drifting through the air.

The quart-pot bubbles boiling so it’s time to ease your toiling and have some tea and damper in our campfire’s welcome glare.

Rain, hail or shine, the Wombat Bush Poets will host an open mic session at Commercial Hotel at 167 Boorowa Street in Young on Sunday, April 30 from 2 pm.

While members of the group tell their yarns in traditional rhyme and rhythm, they accept all poetry styles at their open mic sessions.

Juniors are invited to get up and have a go on the day.

Participants are required to have family-friendly material because youngsters are permitted in non-bar areas.

Meals will be available up to 1:30 pm, with drinks at bar prices and entry to the event is by gold coin donation.

For those who feel they don’t possess the uniquely Aussie storytelling bush poetry skills, you can always pull up a chair, grab a nice plate of grub and wash it down with a nice cold beer while listening to those that do.
