At the June Ordinary Council Meeting a suite of documents were endorsed by Hilltops Councillors. The 2023/24 Operational Plan, Budget, Revenue Policy, and User Fees and Charges.

These important documents form what council aims to achieve in the new financial year, they also provide Hilltops residents an insight into the challenges faced by local government.

Council also voted to retain the red terrace seating on the corner of Boorowa and Lynch Street. This seating has been the topic of conversation since instillation; however, the seating is the only space for children to play in this previously underutilised part of town.

The Hilltops Council website has recently been updated to provide a more user-friendly experience. It now features improved navigation, making it easier to find the information you need.

One of the features is Have Your Say, making a submission helps Council understand the impact a proposal will have on the community. It also helps understand the level of support within the community and why this is the case.

When making a submission be factual, be specific about your concerns, and answer key issues clearly. I encourage everyone to frequent @hilltops.nsw.gov.au, you will find everything from Policies and Plans to Hilltops Region Events.

One very special upcoming event is the Community Open Day at the recently opened Hilltops Young High School Library.

The joint-use library will have tours of the new community facility, you can learn about artefacts found on the site and, enjoy a BBQ provided by Young High School P&C and schoolteachers. There will also be members of the project team on hand to answer any questions.

To all those involved in making this project “Come to Life” congratulations, this facility will be enjoyed for many years to come.
