Last Thursday and Friday, the General Manager and I attended the meeting of the Canberra Regional Joint Organisation.

Hilltops is a member of this joint organisation which collectively works on projects that benefit all member councils.

One example of this is the preparation of the Regional Community Strategic Plan (RCSP) which includes community strategic plans for participating council members - as required by June 2025, following 2024 council elections.

It is always positive to work with other councils for the collective good of our communities.

The weekend was for me showtime! There is something about a country show that lifts the spirits.

Perhaps it is simply that a community is coming together to celebrate and take pride in the area in which they live.

It is an opportunity to showcase livestock and produce and for people, locals, and visitors, to meet, connect and have fun.

The Boorowa Show has been an event on the calendar for the past 134 years.

Last Saturday, the weather was kind and there was a buzz around the grounds. With record entries for many show categories and a competitive field for ring events, show jumping and dog trials; the day was a great success.

The 71st Koorawatha Show was held on Sunday and once again attendance was strong with something for everyone.

Mr Magician welcomed everyone with a trick at the gate and the snake handler and climbing wall entertained the kids.

It was a great day which once again highlighted the agricultural and community strength of the region.

Of course, such events do not happen without a wide range of support.

I thank all the volunteers, exhibitors and judges, sponsors, and patrons for the part they play in keeping the tradition of a country show alive and relevant.
