From Bribbaree to Boorowa, what a showcase weekend! Recent efforts across our communities have produced some outstanding events.

With the warmer weather, people are wanting to be out and about and support for events has been high. The countryside and canola are picturesque. This part of Wiradjuri and Ngunnawal Country is truly beautiful.

It was my first visit to the Bribbaree Show but it won’t be my last! Congratulations to the organisers and the committed members of the community on a classic country show.

The new buildings are a testament to what a community can achieve when everyone contributes their skills and interests. From seeing the need, working out a solution, applying for funding and then seeing it through, the Bribbaree community have done an amazing job.

Boorowa Irish Woolfest was a triumphant success. So many people, stalls and events. If you had never seen a sheep being shorn, here was the perfect opportunity. The Art Show showcased much local talent and the local schools benefitted from any sales.

The enthusiasm and commitment of Susan Corcoran and the hardworking Woolfest Committee is to be commended.

The extra funding from the State Government received for Woolfest (and the upcoming Kite Festival and Cherry Festival), has allowed the organisers to provide that little bit extra.

The dedication and professionalism of Council’s staff also needs to be recognised. From promoting the events, getting the traffic changes ready, putting up and down the fencing, early mornings, late nights, and many other unknown contributions. Thank you.

And yes, travelling across many of our battered and deluged roads, it was good to see that the break in the weather has allowed some roadworks to commence. An ongoing battle that our amazing staff are fighting determinedly.

Finally, if you are not already participating in a community group, I encourage you to get involved!
