The busy Council agenda continues as we draw closer to the September elections. Several documents have been put on public display and I urge everyone to read them and make submissions if appropriate.

The budget, rates harmonisation and the LEP are large documents that have implications for every ratepayer and we should all be aware of what they are so we can plan effectively to meet those changes.

There have been many new COVID changes introduced and we all need to keep abreast of the new conditions. Council has already put out several press releases explaining the changes and will continue to do so. It is our collective responsibility to ensure we do our utmost to keep COVID out of our community, so if you are feeling at all unwell make sure you have a test and isolate until you receive a negative result.

There are many new things happening in and out around Harden. The silos have been painted and are attracting many outside visitors; the site for the installation of Bill the Bastard is progressing as is the work on Murrimboola Creek. Murrumburrah is a hive of activity, especially on weekends, as I’m sure Boorowa and Young are.

As more and more people are forced to holiday within the state our communities become so accessible. I was told the other day that no one realised how vibrant and attractive our Hilltops are.

Another round of Stronger Country Community grants has opened and submissions have been put in - more chance to enhance existing or more projects in our community.

I thank all the volunteer groups working so hard to give our community members the best facilities and opportunities possible.

We are lucky to live in a such a beautiful part of the world and we want to maintain it.
