The new Boorowa skatepark is clearly a big hit with the youth and the young at heart. People are travelling from all around the region to try out the new park. I was so pleased to see this project come to fruition and I congratulate the staff at Council who did a great job in design and delivery of the project.

It has been brought to my attention some concerns around road safety as children make their way to the skatepark. I thank the school for implementing a reminder to students about road safety and ask parents to reinforce the message.

This skatepark project was funded under the NSW Government Stronger Communities Funding Round and I was pleased to see in the NSW State budget this week a further round announced. This program has been a great source of funding for a number of projects in Boorowa and the Hilltops Local Government Area.

It is also that time again where it is important to nominate community members for their outstanding contribution through the Australia Day Community Awards. Please don’t expect someone else to make the nomination, if you think someone is deserving of recognition for what they do in our community, please take the time to nominate them. We have so many outstanding volunteers in our region and it’s important we acknowledge their efforts.

And lastly as we approach Christmas and we embark on purchasing gifts for loved ones, please consider the difference you will make if you shop locally. It’s been a tough year for many and every dollar spent locally makes such a difference.
